Strengthening EU Collaboration for Public Building Renovation

A European Network to Transform Public Spaces

On July 9th, several EU-funded projects came together to launch an informal cooperation network aimed at supporting the energy renovation of public buildings across Europe. This new alliance seeks to share knowledge, coordinate communication activities, and amplify the impact of actions carried out at both local and national levels.

A Common Vision for a Sustainable Europe

The participating projects share the goal of supporting and accelerating the European Renovation Wave, one of the key pillars of the European Green Deal. Their activities are fully aligned with the following strategic frameworks:

  • The European Green Deal

  • The Renovation Wave Strategy

  • The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD)

  • The Fit for 55 Package

Collaboration Objectives

The network will focus on three main areas of cooperation:

  • Joint dissemination of tools, results, and best practices

  • Mutual promotion of project outcomes

  • Co-organization of public events and discussion forums

These synergistic actions aim to strengthen the energy transition, particularly in the public infrastructure sector, promoting scalability and replicability.

The Projects Involved

Here is a brief overview of the projects leading this initiative:

🔗 RenoInGR (Grecia)

Aims to create one-stop-shops to support Greek municipalities in planning and executing renovation projects. It focuses on building local capacity and integrating with public policies.

🔗 CROSS (Croazia)

Promotes citizen engagement in sustainable renovation processes. Provides tools for community involvement and supports local authorities in developing inclusive strategies.

🔗 BAOBAP (Francia)

Develops innovative financing models and technical support for large-scale renovation of public buildings. Bridges the gap between local administrations and service providers.

🔗 TRESS (Irlanda)

Offers regional energy support services to simplify renovation processes in the public sector and improve energy efficiency standards in Ireland.

🔗 JINAG (Repubblica Ceca)

Operates in regional development and innovation, facilitating coordination of renovation activities among municipalities in the South Moravian region.

🔗 GASLESS (Italia)

Aims to eliminate the use of fossil fuels in public buildings by 2030. GASLESS tests integrated approaches to renovation and guides Italian cities in the transition to clean energy.

🔗 FEPC (Polonia)

Works on developing and disseminating Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) models to finance and implement energy efficiency measures in Polish public infrastructure.

Next Steps

The network is already planning joint events, awareness campaigns, and shared studies. The goal is to strengthen cooperation among projects and provide concrete, replicable solutions for the entire European Union.

Stay tuned for updates and future initiatives!
