RECs and Energy Transition in Piedmont: results, challenges and new opportunities

On Monday, 1 December 2025, the Sala Trasparenza in the Regione Piemonte Tower will host the event “RECs and Energy Transition in Piedmont: results, challenges and new opportunities”, a meeting dedicated to the development of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) and their role in the region’s energy transition.

The initiative is promoted by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Regione Piemonte, and Environment Park, and will bring together key institutional and local stakeholders engaged in the expansion of RECs. Representatives from the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE), the City of Turin, and several philanthropic foundations – including Fondazione Cariplo and Fondazione CRC – will participate, along with technical organisations such as Banca Etica, ANCI Piemonte, Unioncamere Piemonte, and Uncem Piemonte.

The event is a strategic opportunity for dialogue, taking stock of the experience gained so far, the results achieved, and future development prospects. Its goal is to encourage the creation of a community of practice capable of sharing knowledge, tools, and methodologies among institutions, local authorities, foundations, and citizens, recognising RECs as true drivers of a sustainable and participatory energy transition.

The morning will open with institutional greetings from Regione Piemonte and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, followed by contributions on the regulatory and programmatic framework of RECs, available support tools, and the role of one-stop shops. Stefano Dotta from Environment Park will present the results of the one-stop shops for REC development, from the Recrosses project to Renoss.

The programme also includes a roundtable discussion, offering institutions, operators, and citizens a space to exchange views on challenges and opportunities, with the aim of defining shared strategies to strengthen RECs as key instruments for Piedmont’s decarbonisation.

The initiative represents a concrete opportunity to integrate policies, experiences, and tools dedicated to the energy transition, highlighting the decisive role of communities and institutions in building more sustainable, inclusive, and shared energy models.

The event will be accessible in person and via livestream. Participants can reserve a seat or request the remote-access link through the online registration form.
